30 X 40 Oil with a gold metal floating frame
Ghost Cypress captures the rugged beauty of California’s 17-Mile Drive, where weathered trees cling to a rocky coastline above the Pacific. The windswept cypress in the foreground reaches outward across the rocks and sea, while the pale, bare tree rises dramatically against the blue horizon.
One of my favorite things about this painting is the ghostly tree. Its twisting trunk and outstretched branches remind me of a ballerina caught in the middle of a dance—graceful, expressive, and seemingly in motion despite being rooted to the rocky coast. That unexpected sense of movement gives the landscape a personality of its own.
